La Pérouse at the library of Brest

La Pérouse library, created at the initiative of the University of Western Brittany (UBO), the french Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea (Ifremer) and the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD ), is located on the Technopole Brest-Iroise. Covering an area of 2 500 m2, including 600 on the reading room and 500 stores, it offers 70 seats wired benefiting from computers in a reading room that faces the ocean.

Salomon Association has just published a book entitled The mystery Lapérouse or unfinished dream of a king

which takes stock of twenty-seven years of excavation and illuminates the history of the famous french navigator in 1788, to Vanikoro with his two ships.

Published by Conti this structure is part of the collection of the "very large library Thalassa" Georges Pernoud which is one of the directors involved. It supports and extends the exhibition "The Mystery Lapérouse" which opened in March 19th at the National Maritime Museum, Paris and scheduled to end on October 20th. Profusely illustrated over 400 pages, it explains the reasons for the expedition Lapérouse during the Enlightenment in the context of a king at the end of power.
